About Carpenter Contractors of America, Inc.
It was Jacob Thiel who began the family tradition of quality workmanship and this gifted carpenter taught his six sons everything he knew about his trade. In 1955, Robert and Donald Thiel opened their doors for business as R&D Thiel, and from the start, R&D Thiel was a thriving family business with a heritage of working with wood. From this relatively modest beginning evolved one of the largest carpenter contracting, building material and housing component manufacturing firms in the country.
R&D Thiel, currently located in Belvidere, Illinois, started in the suburbs of Chicago and has continued to expand under the name Carpenter Contractors of America, Inc. into the thriving markets of Florida (1973) and North Carolina (2000) and currently serves all the major metropolitan areas of these high growth states. R&D Thiel/Carpenter Contractors of America, Inc. (CCA) has grown to achieve a reputation as the preeminent full-service carpenter contractors, material supplier and housing component manufacturer in the United States and is unique among its competition in that it provides all three product offerings.
